Participation in the monthly face-to-face meeting at La Harinera of the research team from the Citcom.ai project working at the University of Valencia

As part of the monthly monitoring meeting of the South Supernode of the European Citcom.ai project, our research team from the IDAL (Intelligent Data Analysis Laboratory) at the University of Valencia working on this project participated in the face-to-face meeting held at La Harinera (space provided by Valencia Innovation Capital), which on this occasion replaced the usual online format typically used for this recurrent meeting.

The meeting brought together representatives from all the partners that form part of the South Supernode, who presented the progress made to date in their respective experiments and lines of work within the project. The session allowed for the sharing of results, the comparison of methodologies and the analysis of the real impact of the solutions developed in urban and administrative environments.

Presentation of our progress

From our team's side, we focused our intervention on a presentation of the experiments already completed, showcasing them as success stories. During it, we showed images, visual results, and direct links to the tools developed, explaining the initial problem, the solution implemented, the level of technological maturity achieved, and the value generated for the entities we have collaborated with, such as Visit Valencia and Valencia City Council.

In addition to technological developments, we also sought to highlight the scientific output derived from certain completed experiments, including publications in international journals that consolidate the effective transfer between academic research and practical application.

We also explained the experiment journey that we follow internally in the development of each use case: from identifying opportunities and making initial contact with the collaborating entity, through preparation, negotiation and execution of the experiment, to validation, impact assessment and dissemination activities. This methodological structure allows us to systematise learning, optimise resources and ensure technical, ethical and regulatory compliance at each stage of the process.

Finally, we shared the next lines of work planned (exploring the possibility of continuing some of our current collaborations, initial contacts with public administrations to explore AI-based solutions in areas such as mobility, connectivity and urban management, and requests for access to new data sets to expand the experimental scope), and we thanked the institutions that fund our research: the European Union and the Valencian Regional Government (Generalitat Valenciana). Their institutional support is essential to continue promoting Artificial Intelligence solutions applied to real urban challenges.

A necessary space for direct exchange between partners

Beyond the aforementioned technical and institutional content, the in-person meeting at La Harinera provided a particularly valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration between partners.

Being able to share progress face to face, exchange impressions and generate debate in a personal setting facilitates more fluid and strategic communication than is possible in regular virtual meetings. These types of meetings reinforce the cohesion of the node and allow us to closely monitor the joint progress of the project.

We continue to work to ensure that the experiments developed within the framework of Citcom.ai continue to have a real impact on cities and administrations, combining research, European infrastructure and the practical application of Artificial Intelligence.
