Participation of the Citcom.ai-University of Valencia research team in the ‘Data-Driven Revolution’ Summer School
Last July, members of the IDAL (Intelligent Data Analysis Laboratory) research team from the University of Valencia for the CitCom.ai project participated in the ‘Data-Driven Revolution’ Summer School, organised by the UV itself as part of the Erasmus Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). This course brought together students interested in understanding the scope of the current data-driven revolution.
Throughout the different sessions, participants explored how massive data management and its application are transforming the economy, society, culture, and education. The programme addressed topics such as big data, data analytics, cloud computing, privacy, security, and data analysis applications in different sectors.

Our contribution: Artificial Intelligence for tourism management in Valencia
As part of the programme, the CitCom.ai-UV team, represented by our members Andrea Bonetti, Adrián Salcedo and Emilio Fernández, gave a session entitled ‘Artificial Intelligence for Smart Tourism Management: The Case of Valencia in the CitCom.AI Project’.
During the presentation, the project's advances in the field of smart tourism were presented, showing how artificial intelligence can contribute to more sustainable and efficient management of urban destinations. Through the case study of Valencia, different courses of action that combine the use of real data and emerging technologies to improve the visitor experience and the quality of life of residents were presented.

Among the use cases shown to attendees were:
- The analysis and geospatial visualisation of Valencia Tourist Card data, which allows mobility patterns to be identified and the distribution of visitors throughout the city to be optimised.
- Predictive sales and tourist segmentation models based on machine learning.
- An intelligent tourist chatbot developed with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology, capable of providing accurate and reliable answers using only verified sources.
- Tools for detecting anomalies in environmental data and a route planner with low exposure to pollution, aimed at sustainable management of the urban environment.
The presentation aroused great interest among those present, as they were able to learn first-hand, from the developers themselves and from a practical perspective, how artificial intelligence is being applied to make Valencia a more connected, sustainable and people-oriented Smart City.
The CitCom.ai project continues to work on the integration of technological solutions that promote sustainable urban development and the improvement of public services through the ethical and responsible use of AI.
