The CitCom.ai-UV team will take part in the 8th edition of the University of Valencia’s Summer School: ‘Challenges in Data Science’

From Monday 29th June to Friday 3rd July, the University of Valencia’s research team working on the European CitCom.ai project will take part in the 8th edition of the Summer School: Challenges in Data Science. This is a week-long event, organised by the University itself as part of the Erasmus BIP (Combined Intensive Programme) mobility scheme, and supported by the Valencian Regional Government and numerous departments within our institution.

Through the scheduled courses (both face-to-face and online sessions), the aim is to provide participating students with advanced knowledge of the impressive growth in data management in recent years and, above all, of its real-world applications in various fields. This event therefore represents an opportunity to explore the scope of the current data revolution and its capacity to transform the economy, society, culture and education.

Looking more closely at these sessions, they will take a dynamic approach, incorporating theoretical lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, in which participants will work in teams to put the lessons learnt into practice by designing and presenting a start-up project. All of this is driven by a primary objective: to link cutting-edge research into Artificial Intelligence with the training of leading-edge talent.

For our team, this eighth edition, which follows on from last year’s successful seventh edition, where we were already able to share our AI solutions applied to smart tourism in Valencia, represents an opportunity, in this case the second, to validate the work carried out and reinforce the applied focus of data models in urban and social environments by sharing the use cases developed over the past year as part of the European Citcom.ai project.

In short, through this participation, the team aims to consolidate its role within the research community and continue to make progress in disseminating solutions designed to be applied and replicated in various urban and public management contexts.

Finally, in addition to the intensive academic programme and laboratory work, we hope that the face-to-face sessions at two of the University of Valencia’s campuses will provide a rewarding opportunity to exchange knowledge with students from other countries, which will undoubtedly add value to the experience of collectively building more connected and sustainable cities.
